Meet Amadeus!

In 2006 Austria and the whole of Europe celebrates the 250th anniversary of one of the most impressive composers and musicians worldwide ? Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Most of us only know a part of Mozart?s life and his work. Although the year 2006 will pass, the spirit of Mozart and his works are always alive! This tour provides you with the unique opportunity of following Mozart?s footsteps.

1st day: Munich - Salzburg

After landing in Munich you go straight to Mozart’s birthplace – the Austrian city of Salzburg. You can have a look at the house where he was born and maybe listen to one of his great compositions in the evening. Besides, you can go on a city tour of Salzburg, which includes the marvellous view from the fortress over the entire region.

2nd day: Salzburg - Vienna

Today you get up early to head off to Vienna.  Mozart gave one of his first concerts here and had the chance to be received by the empress Maria Theresia, who was very impressed by this young pianist and composer. Thus the empress’ castle and a lot of other sights relate to both of them - Mozart and Maria Theresia. You can listen to an evening concert at which the musicians perform in historical costumes.

3rd day: Vienna - Budapest

In the morning you can take your time to feel the majestic spirit of Vienna. Later on you will continue to Budapest, where Mozart spent some weeks to ponder upon his new compositions. Arriving in Budapest you will immediately know why he chose this city to calm down and take a rest. Long, elegant boulevards, stately buildings and a romantic waterfront turn a trip to Budapest into a special experience.

4th day: Budapest - Trieste

There is some time for shopping in Budapest’s inner city in the morning before you continue to Trieste – a city with a long tradition of trade and commerce. Mozart also spent some time in this charming Italian city to play various concerts. Take your time for a city trip through the narrow streets of Trieste.

5th day: Trieste - Venice

Today you experience one of the highlights of your trip – Venice. Venice was and always will be a special city, an exceptional mixture of orient and occident with visible traces of Byzantium all over the place. Built into the ocean in its entirety, the main streets in Venice are waterways. Thus public transport is almost exclusively by boat. You spend the whole day in Venice, where you have a guided orientation tour tracing Mozart’s footsteps once again.

6th day: Venice - Florence - Milan

From Venice you continue to Florence, which ranks Michelangelo, Donatello, Giotto, Dante, Machiavelli and the Medici among its sons and thus is a picture book of the Renaissance. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart loved this place and you can discover his favourite sites together with a guide. In the evening you head off to Milan where you spend the night.

7th day: Milan - Zurich

In the morning you will have a city tour of Milan, which is nowadays best known for its fashion weeks. However, Mozart also visited this city during his tour through Italy and proved his exceptional skills by playing his most difficult compositions. In the afternoon you continue your journey to Zurich where you stay overnight after an impressing bus tour through Zurich by night.

8th day: Zurich - Paris

Today you will change your means of transport and take the high speed train to travel to Paris. Mozart’s visit to Paris was one of his key experiences, meeting King Louis XV, for whom he gave breathtaking concerts at Versailles castle. This is your first site to visit before you continue to the inner city of Paris, climb the Eiffel tower and see the Louvre museum.

9th day: Paris

As Paris has so much to offer, you spend the entire day in this exciting city. Take your time for a shopping tour or do more sightseeing on your own.

10th day: Paris - Strasbourg

This morning you head off to Strasbourg, a city of historical importance. Enjoy the Rhenish architecture with its timberhouses. Go on a guided orientation tour taking all in that the city has to offer.

11th day: Strasbourg - Freiburg

Today you return to Germany, to be exact to the city of Freiburg. Freiburg has a multicultural character as it is located near the French and the Swiss border. Mozart was not the only famous person who spent some time here. Goethe, the famous poet, also left his imprints on this city, which you discover together with a guide. In the afternoon you come back to the starting point Munich, where you spend the night.

12th day: Munich

Before leaving Europe you are given a guided tour of Munich. As Mozart lived close by he visited this Bavarian city regularly.

Goodbye Europe!
